1. Resistance Loop (Ω)
Select Resistance mode and measure at TP1 or TP2:
- ~60 Ω Ideal: Two 120 Ω end terminators connected in parallel.
- ~120 Ω Fault: One terminator is missing. Signal will reflect and drop packets.
- OL (Open) Fault: No terminators are connected. Network is open and dead.
2. Power & Voltage (V)
Select Voltage mode and measure at TP3 (battery) or TP4 (display node):
- 12V - 14V Ideal: Clean power feed from battery.
- 0.0 V Fault: Blown inline fuse, dead battery, or disconnected power cable.
- < 9.0 V Fault: Severe voltage drop. Screen will reboot during engine crank.
3. Shield Grounding (Ω)
Select Resistance mode and measure at TP5 (shield terminal):
- < 1.0 Ω Ideal: Network shield is grounded at exactly one location.
- > 10.0 Ω Fault: Missing shield ground. Noise can corrupt data.
- High Ω Fault: Multiple ground locations, creating ground loops and resets.
